Fitness friday: bhangra
This week has been a fitness adventure, and I’m glad that last week’s funk is finally passed. Oddly, I’m beginning to think that a week of less exercise and more food, perhaps even with a small gain, is just going to be a regular part of the process every couple of months, and that’s fine with me. So here’s what this week’s fitness routine looked like:
Saturday: Day 1 of the Hundred Pushups and Two Hundred Situps challenges + 2.72mi walk with husband and baby, resulting it awful sunburn for us. Luckily, we remembered to coat the Toddlerette in sunscreen, so just the parents got burned.
Sunday: nothing.
Monday: Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown (35min) and Disco Abs (30min, hate)
Tuesday: Pilates (30min), Masala Bhangra (20min), week 1 day 2 of Hundred Pushups/Two Hundred Situps challenge.
Wednesday: 6 Round Slimdown (40min circuit training)
Thursday: Week 1 day 3 of Hundred Pushups/Two Hundred Situps challenge, Masala Bhangra (20min), Fat to Fit Fast (30min cardio)
Friday: … not sure yet, but I can almost guarantee it will involve more Bhangra!
Several people have asked about the Masala Bhangra workout. It’s from Sarina Jain’s Back 2 Bollywood workout on Exercise TV. The one I’m using is an excerpt from On Demand, but there is a whole DVD here that I might actually buy one day…
And finally (I can’t believe I’m doing this) here is a short video of me looking like a total idiot doing a bit of the Masala Bhangra workout, specifically the end of the warmup:
(Wow, I really need to do something about those heybabies…) And in case you were wondering how hard you work during the workout, here’s a shot of me afterward:
